My Wild.

The complete journey from leaving
to rebuilding after abuse.

Raw, unfiltered, and written by someone who lived it, survived it, and built a movement from it.

This is not a self-help book.

This is the truth of what it actually takes to leave, survive the aftermath, and finally come home to yourself.

Lauren Jane is a survivor, a truth-teller, and the founder of Find My Wild.

She met her abuser at 18.

Had her first child at 20.

She spent 14 years believing she was the problem.

A doctor's quiet words — "Lauren, this is abuse" — changed everything.

This book will not tell you what to do. It will not rush you. It will not ask you to forgive, explain, minimise, or make sense of what hurt you.

What it will do is tell the truth.

About how abuse really works.

About why leaving is so difficult.

And about the parts of healing no one prepares you for.

ABOUT THE BOOK

This book exists so you don't

walk this path alone.

FROM CHAPTER 7 & 8

The day

I left.

At 11am I said it out loud. I'm leaving today.

Saying it made it real.

Everything moved from fear to action in seconds.

Before I left the house, I placed my key card — the link to our money — on his side of the bed. A silent offering. A peace treaty. A desperate hope: "If I leave the money, maybe he'll let me go."

My body exhaled for the first time in years. I called my mum. "Can the kids and I stay with you?"

Her reply: "I've cleaned out the garage. I've been waiting for this day."

I had one hour.

Passports.

Birth certificates.

Photos. Clothes.

My late brother's surfboard.

I didn't pack — I escaped.

When I closed the door, I didn't look back.

That was the day my old life died. And my real life began.

INSIDE THE BOOK

Five parts.

One complete journey.

PART I

Leaving

A 12-stage self-paced rebuilding journey for humans navigating life after domestic or family violence. From survival to strength, across 18 months.

PART II

The Aftermath

People think the hardest part is leaving. Anyone who's lived it knows otherwise. The first night, 150 messages a day, post-separation abuse, and the Federal Court years.

PART III

Becoming My Own Abuser

When the fight turns inward. The ways we numb, escape, and self-destruct when we don't yet know how to heal. The rawest part of the journey.

PART IV

Choosing to Heal

The moment Lauren stopped running. Learning to feel safe in her body. Boundaries that changed everything. Rebuilding trust with herself. Choosing healing every day.

PART V

Finding My Wild

Life after survival. Who she is without fear. Desire, joy, and aliveness. Power, purpose, and meaning. The life she is allowed to want. Coming home to herself.

“You are not weak for staying. You are not broken for struggling after you leave. And you are not failing if healing feels messy and nonlinear.
This book exists so you don't have to walk this path in silence."
